Unlike many
other sites, the Proteus website does not place any
"cookies" on to your system. Cookies are tiny files which
effectively log your visits to a website and maintain
consistency through each of your visits.
However, we
have designed our site in such a way that cookies and
similar devices are unnecessary. Since there are no settings
that require alteration on the visitor's part, we have no
need to place any files on your computer.
However,
files related to our website are inevitably stored on your
computer's "cache" (its short-term memory buffer), as well
as in your Temporary Internet Files folder (or similar).
This is not a deliberate act on our part, but rather an
attempt by your computer to speed up internet browsing (you
will find that your system 'collects' files from all
websites you visit). You can dispose of these files by
clearing your History and deleting your Temporary Internet
Files (consult your internet browser's Help files for
assistance on this).
We do not
monitor individual usage patterns; rather we monitor traffic
through our website as a whole. |
